This afternoon trip pairs a catamaran sail on the Guanacaste coast with hotel transfers from Tamarindo, so the logistics are handled from door to door. Pickup comes first, in an air conditioned vehicle, and the boat departs from the meeting spot in front of El Chiringuito Bar on Tamarindo Beach at 13:30. The whole outing runs about five hours and ends back where it started.
On board, the open bar runs the whole cruise: soft drinks, juices, beer, selected spirits and wine, plus bottled water and soda. A freshly prepared lunch is served on board, with BBQ chicken, yellow rice, ground beans, fresh fruit, chips with pico de gallo and baked cookies. Restrooms are on the boat.
Once the catamaran reaches the Guanacaste coast, snorkeling gear is there to use. Anyone who would rather float than swim can grab a flotation device instead. The tour carries a maximum of 50 travellers. Bring your own towel, and note that alcoholic drinks are served only to travellers 21 and over.
A few practical points will make the day smoother, from what to pack to how the group works.
Common issues. The tour is not wheelchair accessible, which rules it out for some travellers with limited mobility. It also needs a minimum number of bookings to run; if that minimum is not met, the operator offers a different date or a full refund. Towels and gratuities are not included, so factor both into the day. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the 13:30 start get no refund.
Yes, round-trip transportation from Tamarindo hotels is included in an air conditioned vehicle. The stated pickup point is in front of El Chiringuito Bar on Tamarindo Beach, or you can ask for the Catamaran Meeting Point. The tour starts at 13:30.
An open bar runs throughout the cruise with soft drinks, juices, beer, selected spirits and wine, plus bottled water and soda. Lunch includes BBQ chicken, yellow rice, ground beans, fresh fruit plates, chips with pico de gallo and freshly baked cookies. Alcoholic drinks are limited to travellers 21 and over, while anyone younger is served from the non-alcoholic selection.
Yes, use of snorkeling equipment is included. Flotation devices and safety equipment are also available for guests who would rather swim or float than snorkel.
Bring a towel, since towels are not included, plus swimwear for the water time on the Guanacaste coast. Gratuities are not included either, so budget for them separately if you plan to tip.
Most travellers can participate, and minors are welcome but served non-alcoholic drinks only. However, the boat is not wheelchair accessible. The tour caps participation at 50 travellers.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the 13:30 start for a full refund. Inside that window there is no refund and changes are not accepted. If the operator cancels for poor weather or low numbers, you are offered a different date or a full refund.
